UK’s Seafood Innovation Fund opens for aquaculture innovators

SIF is a research and development fund that supports projects, ideas and technologies aimed at disrupting the seafood and aquaculture industry. SIF opened its third round of funding last week and is seeking proposals on how to address aquaculture and seafood supply chain challenges. SIF will accept applications until January 7 2022.

The fund hosts research projects focused on sustainability, innovation, improving productivity, enhancing cross-sector collaboration, improving management practices and reducing risk in the product sector. sea.

The fund will provide grants of up to £ 50,000 for feasibility studies lasting up to five months. Successful projects should focus on new ideas or approaches that will bring long-term practical benefits to the seafood industry.

Unlike previous cycles, full research and development projects will not be considered, allowing the program to devote a greater proportion of available funds to fostering unique new ideas.

Projects that have proven to be feasible can apply for follow-up funding through a closed call.
