Southtown’s chic new steak and seafood restaurant Up Scale will open this month in Feast’s former home

Up Scale, the new seafood, sushi and steak restaurant from Little Em’s Oyster Bar owners Emily and Houston Carpenter, is slated to open by the end of this month in Southtown in Feast’s former home.

Building on the success of the cute and laid back Little Em’s across the street, Up Scale’s menu takes a broader, more formal approach, with appetizers like caviar and eggs. lollipop lamb chops, a sushi bar with nigiri and specialty rolls, seafood dishes including tagliolini branzino and lobster butterflies, plus steaks including a aged tomahawk chop sec 60 days.

The menu is executed by Executive Chef Jake Gonzales, working with Executive Chef Austin Bush, who oversees both Up Scale and Little Em’s. The full bar includes specialty cocktails, martinis, beer and an extensive wine list.

True to its name, Up Scale offers a chic dining room in soft pink and pastel peach tones with bold accents of pomegranate red and peacock blue. The building was repainted in a sleek slate gray, with blue neon accents that are reflected in the restaurant’s name towering into the Southtown sky.

The Carpenters have hosted invitational-only soft opening dinners, but they haven’t set a firm public opening date. When they do, the hours will be 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with plans to add Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in November.
