This boil was not very good. The prawns had decent seasoning, at least.

There is a thick layer of seasoning. It’s as if the lid had come off while someone was trying to season the dish and the whole shaker spilled onto the prawns.

We expected to bite into a crunchy corn on the cob, but it was mushy. The potatoes were bland too.

We’re not crawfish experts, but there wasn’t much meat, and we didn’t care. The jambalaya crayfish were better.

The sausage was ok, but there are so many other dishes with great sausage so this one was disappointing. We wouldn’t recommend it.

Kings Cake – $12.99

Traditional king cake with cinnamon frosting and colored sanding sugar

The King Cake is massive with super sweet frosting and good grainy sugar.

The cake was a bit dry, but the plastic baby was a nice touch. A definite improvement over last year’s tribute store, King Cake.

Donuts – $5.99

Sweet dough fried with powdered sugar

If you’re looking for us during Mardi Gras, just follow the powdered sugar trail because these donuts are right there.

They are puffy, fluffy and soft. Be sure to take a bag of donuts.

Mardi Gras Marshmallow Pie – $5.49

Freshly made marshmallow, graham crackers, chocolate, Mardi Gras sprinkles

The marshmallow pie was amazing.

The pie had a fresh and sweet homemade marshmallow filling on a graham cracker crust with a decadent chocolate coating. Absolutely a must have item!

Category 5 punch – $7.00 for 9 oz, $13.00 for 12 oz. keepsake mug

Myer’s Dark Rum, Cruzan Aged Dark Rum, passion fruit puree, orange and lime juice, grenadine, agave nectar

This includes a keepsake mug and a color-changing straw.

The straw turns purple in the drink.

It says “Universal’s Mardi Gras” on it, while the cup bears this year’s Mardi Gras logo.

The drink itself is great, especially for a pre-mixed drink.

You can taste alcohol and sweet fruit juices. The passion fruit flavor stands out the most.

This delicious drink can be found at several stalls at Mardi Gras this year.

*NEW* Piña Verde – $8.00 for 9 oz, $13.00 for 12 oz. keepsake mug

Bacardi Superior Rum, Chartreuse Green Liqueur, Coco López Coconut Cream, Pineapple and Lime Juice, Fresh Mint

The Piña Verde comes in the same souvenir cup with a color-changing straw as the Category 5 Punch.

You don’t taste the alcohol as much as with the Category 5, but it’s better than the one served last year.

It has a creamy pineapple flavor with a hint of coconut. It’s sweet and refreshing.

We were blown away because we hated last year’s one so much.

Abita Purple Haze Raspberry Lager (4.2% ABV): $6.00 for 9 oz, $11.00 for 12 oz. keepsake mug

D’Abita: “Purple Haze is a lager brewed with real raspberries added after filtration. It is brewed with pilsner and wheat malts, and Vanguard hops. The berries add a fruity aroma, a sweet and tart taste, a subtle purple color and a haze…you can see fruit pulp in the beer.

*NEW* North Coast Brewing Co. Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale (7.6% ABV) – $6.50 for 9 oz, $11.50 for 12 oz. keepsake mug

From North Coast Brewing Co.: “Belgian beers represent the pinnacle of brewing art. Sophisticated brewing techniques, yeast blends and unique flavoring elements have elevated Belgian beers to the status enjoyed by wine in other countries. PranQster follows this tradition by using a mixed culture of ancient yeast strains which produce a floral nose, full fruity flavor and clean finish.
