Hot Chicken now at Victoria Gardens

Jay Bird’s has opened its first Inland Empire location at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga.

The chain specializes in hot Nashville chicken.

The restaurant is at 12505 North Mainstreet, formerly Johnny Rockets.

Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Another location is planned at Riverside.

Mochinut open at Loma Linda

Mochinut opened at 24940 Redlands Blvd., Suite A, Loma Linda, the former home of Ayda Ethiopian Restaurant, which closed in 2021.

It is the region’s fourth location for the Hawaiian-style donut chain, following those in Ontario, Riverside and Indio.

The chain also offers boba drinks and Korean rice flower hot dogs.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Locations are also planned in Temecula and Corona.

The bakery flourishes in Redlands

Sugar Bloom Cakery & Coffee is open in Redlands.

The restaurant offers a variety of baked goods — including cookies, pastries, brownies, macaroons, and cupcakes — as well as coffee drinks.

Custom cakes are also available.

The store is at 405 W. Redlands Blvd.

Hours of operation are 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Seafood at Rancho Cucamonga

Seafood chain Bag O’ Crab has opened its first Inland Empire store in Rancho Cucamonga.

The chain specializes in boiled and fried seafood, but also offers chicken wings, po’ boy sandwiches, salads, soups and plates of grilled beef, chicken katsu and more.

Hours are 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Bag O’ Crab is at 11540 Fourth St, Suite 103, where Blazing Chicken used to be.

Scoops to go

Montclair-based Scoops on Tap, which specializes in ice cream infused with beer and other spirits (but also makes non-alcoholic flavors) and plans to open a scoop store in Covina, is now available locally .

Downtown’s Riverside Slater’s 50/50 is the exclusive spot serving Scoops on Tap ice cream.

The restaurant serves scoops of ice cream for dinner, as well as a selection of pints to take away.

Scoops on Tap won eight gold and two silver for its ice cream at the 2022 Los Angeles International Dairy Competition this year.

Slater’s 50/50 is located at 3750 University Ave. Sequel 125.

Drink at Panera

Panera Bread has expanded its coffee subscription to include other beverages.

The chain’s beverage subscription previously only included hot brewed tea, as well as hot or iced coffee.

Panera’s Unlimited Sip Club now also includes new loaded lemonades, as well as iced tea and fountain drinks.

Subscribers can redeem their free drinks every two hours and can get unlimited refills while dining.

The cost is $10.99 per month.

The 30th Annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is scheduled for Saturday, May 14.

Joining is simple. Simply gather the bags of non-perishable food and drop them near your mailbox before the Saturday delivery time.

Your postman will do the rest.

A few do’s and don’ts: Donate items like pasta, cereal, oatmeal, cooking oil, peanut butter and canned goods. Do not give expired foods or items in glass containers.

Donations go to local food banks.
