OKALOOSA ISLAND – The Elks Lodge on Okaloosa Island opens to the public on weekends starting August 13 and features a host of events as part of a campaign to attract new members.
Members and staff will be on hand to greet anyone interested in getting a glimpse of the iconic Fort Walton Lodge 1795. Membership information and applications will be available.
On Friday, members and non-members will be welcomed from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. A pizza lunch will be offered from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday night a “pub grub” menu will be available from 6pm to 8pm and Randy Gardner’s music starts at 7pm and continues until 10pm
The festivities resume on Saturday with lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shepherd’s pie with green beans will be on the menu, and the lodge will remain open to everyone until 10 p.m.
On Sunday, Okaloosa’s best-kept secret, “the best breakfast in town,” will be served from 8 am to 11:15 am Members and guests will be invited to brunch with Bloody Marys or mimosas from the bar and carte blanche to enjoy the breathtaking view of Choctawhatchee bay from the back patio.
The weekend ends Sunday afternoon with a shrimp boil that begins at 2 p.m. and continues until the shrimp are exhausted. The membership campaign ends at 7 p.m. when the lodge closes for the evening.
