Five food trucks you must visit in Fort Smith


Gone are the days when Fort Smith had a few prime food trucks all over town. With over 25 food trucks, people can eat everything from seafood to snow cones.

Here are five food trucks worth checking out.

The world of fries

For six months that World of Fries has been open, it has seduced gourmets with its elaborate fries.

Shawn and Vanity Palmer started World of Fries after making the potatoes at home for their friends and family. The recipes were so successful that they decided to open their own food truck, and World of Fries was born.

“We bring different food to Fort Smith in general,” said Shawn Palmer.

He said that “we know everyone loves French fries,” but the Palmers are taking the beloved classic and adding a twist to it.

People can choose from fries topped with Caribbean jerk, lemon pepper chicken, and buffalo.

A regular size of fries is $ 10 and a large size is $ 12. The truck is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Birrieria La Jefa revisits traditional Mexican cuisine by creating its own dishes such as quesataco.

The food truck has been open since September 2019 and since then drives traffic to the north of the city. People come from all over Fort Smith to try the food, said Diana Ochoa.

“We are really grateful to the community,” said Ochoa.

Ochoa specializes in the preparation of tacos and birrieria, grated meat cooked in a special broth. She also makes frescas, a fruit drink that she embellishes with Mexican candies.

The food truck is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The Brain Freeze & Coffee Shop has been open for about a year.

This is no ordinary snow cone stand and it is not just a food truck that sells coffee. Hence the name, The Brain Freeze & Coffee Shop; it does both.

The food truck has been open for a little over a year.

“I enjoyed every minute of it,” said owner Burel Schaberg. “I have fun.”

The store has over 70 flavors of snow cones, which Schaberg can also use in coffee drinks.

Its most popular creation is crack, which blends four flavors into one sweet drink. Another unique concoction are snowcuccinos, which use snow cone ice cream in drinks.

With the café added to its repertoire, Schaberg remains open year round. It is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Truckin Delicious is expected to reopen next month.

Delicious Truckin. It’s all in the name.

Truckin Delicious is a food truck that offers a rotating menu but which retains two old standbys, the smokin rolls and the truckin tots.

Owner Tasha Taylor has been open for six and a half years and has built a loyal following who look forward to each new menu edition. For each menu, Taylor offers different themes such as Mexican, Italian and American. She calls her creations food fusions.

“I kind of take things that people know about and then I put a twist on it,” Taylor said.

Her most popular meal is the Thanksgiving Sandwich, which features roast turkey, cranberry aioli, and house dressing, all topped with a spring mix.

Truckin Delicious prices range from $ 6 to $ 11.

Although the food truck is closed for now, Taylor plans to reopen next month.

Joshua Kinnard owns Jayda Grubbs, a food truck that sells potatoes with all the fixins.

The giant potatoes are stacked with all the fixes: a pound of mac and cheese, a pound of meat.

That’s what Jayda Grubbs is known for, her huge potatoes covered in dreamy garnishes.

Joshua Kinnard’s food truck has been open for almost a year, and it stays busy, surprising its customers every two weeks with new potatoes.

“I don’t want a lot of people to run out on the same foods,” Kinnard said.

Kinnard has a background in food management. His father owned two restaurants as a child and he attended a culinary arts school. But he also has a more eventful past. He spent some time in prison in another life.

Now Kinnard wants to give back to his community.

“Even if you do wrong in life at a young age, you can overcome any obstacle,” Kinnard said.

Its food price ranges from around $ 12 to $ 18, and it’s open from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Kinnard is usually at 5504 S 31st St., but will also be selling his food at Garrison Commons twice a month.
