Some of the biggest names in ’90s pop will grace the stage of a Hampshire village pub this weekend.

Boyz on Block, which is made up of Abz Love from Five, Shane Lynch from Boyzone, Dane Bowers from Other Level and Ben Ofoedu from dance duo Phats & Small, will appear at the Pilgrim Inn in Marchwood tomorrow night.

They take a break from the retro music scene, which includes a busy schedule of festivals and appearances at Butlin’s, for a unique event.

New manager Matt England has big plans for large-scale events at the pub, which is perfectly placed between Southampton and New Forest.

The first is the inaugural Waterside Fest, which will be led by the boy band supergroup, performing a mix of iconic ’90s tracks starting at 9pm.

The quirky party group Inertia will combine anthemic dance with pop and rock classics from the 70s to the 2000s while warming up the crowd of 500. There will be live music all day from local musicians.

The pub parking lot is occupied by a multitude of local businesses as the organizers promise pizza, local sweets, coffee and sun!

The main sponsors are HMS Spirits of Fawley with their event company HMS Bars. Also in support will be Holbury’s Vibrant Forest Brewery, which will sell its beers all day and night. Filly your Face is also set to launch at the event and patrons can enjoy locally made coffee and candy, cakes and fudge.

Daily Echo:

Fullers, who owns the pub, will have delicious food and London Pride beer on tap from noon as well.

The Pilgrim Inn has only been a pub since the 1980s, although houses have been on the site for centuries.

Award-winning BBC cameraman Ron Longman and his wife Margaret bought two abandoned cottages on the site and decided to open a pub. Ron continued to run the pub after Margaret’s death, selling it to Fullers after more than 30 years at the helm.

Daily Echo:

These days, The Pilgrim Inn has a 14-room hotel, which had a new thatched roof and a lick of paint while on lockdown. Rooms are decorated in rich, earthy tones, and some feature claw-foot tubs, four-poster beds, and forest or nautical themes.

The seasonally changing menu includes pub classics like burgers, pies, and fish and chips, as well as more unusual dishes like bundles of game, seafood tagliatelle, and a weekly platter of signature dishes.

Fullers London Pride and Gale’s Seafarers and HSB beers are among the most popular drinks with a choice of 25 mostly local gins and an impressive wine list that also proves its worth at the bar.
