Bombay: In what could cause more trouble for former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, another extortion offense has been registered against him with his API man Sachin Waze, who was dismissed from his post after being arrested in connection with the Antilla – Mansukh Hiran bomb threat murder case by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The complaint was registered by Bimal Agarwal, 48, a private developer and entrepreneur, who alleged that Waze, in collusion with Singh and others, extorted Rs 8 lakh and two high-end cellphones worth total of Rs 11.92 lakh between February 2020 to March 2021 so that its resto-bars in the western suburbs can operate without problem. Agarwal is partner of “BOHO” located in Goregaon and “BCB” located at Vira Desai Road in Andheri.
Agarwal in his statement claimed that Param Bir Singh asked Waze to collect 2 crore rupees daily from bar owners and bookmakers in Mumbai. This is the first FIR where Param Bir Singh and the dismissed policeman Waze were appointed together.
Besides Singh and Waze, Agarwal named Sumit Singh aka Chintu, Alpesh Patel, Vinay Singh and Riyaz Bhati in the FIR registered at Goregaon police station on Thursday.
In his statement to the police, Agrawal also claimed that on August 31, 2020, Waze called him to the Kandivali Unit of the Criminal Branch and informed that Singh said he suffered a loss of 6 months of income. due to the pandemic and making recoveries Singh had set himself the goal of collecting Rs 2 crore per day. Waze was also urged to tap into the bookies and let them operate so that money could be collected from them, Agrawal said in his statement to police.
Based on the complaint, Goregaon Police recorded an offense under Articles 384, 384 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
